Why do they do that? Understanding and responding to challenging behaviour (Bendigo)

February 15, 2018 until February 16, 2018

Everyone does what they do for a reason. This program will give insight into how behaviour can be understood as a form of communication. Set over two half-day sessions, it teaches skilled and positive ways to respond to children and young people when their behaviour concerns or challenges you following the research-based Positive Behaviour Support approach.

During this session you will:

  • learn strategies to increase safety, health and happiness of children and young people in care
  • understand different types of concerning behaviours and their possible meanings
  • learn how to respond to concerning behaviours and assist in the recovery of children affected by loss and grief, trauma and attachment issues
  • understand how to spot warning signs of mental health problems and respond appropriately
