Nikara's Journey (Wodonga)

October 18, 2018 until October 19, 2018

Please note this session is completely full and we are no longer taking registrations.

Discover how to advocate for Aboriginal children in your care through this two-day training program for non-Aboriginal carers. This illustrative program will lead you through the story of Nikara and her foster parents as they learn to support Nikara, keep her safe, respect her identity and maintain her connection to culture, family and community.

During this session you will:

  • gain an introductory knowledge and understanding of how to best support Aboriginal children in care
  • understand how connection to culture, community and family is vital to a child’s future
  • understand how to respond to Aboriginal children and young people in a culturally sensitive way
  • learn about the history of Aboriginal people in Australia and Victoria
