As a result of attending this workshop\, carers will have a clear understanding of FASD\, including its common characteristics\, strengths\, and challenges. VACCA trainers are proud Aboriginal staff members with their own lived experience and Cultural knowledge. DESCRIPTION:Therapeutic Foster Care Series \nThe Therapeutic Foster Care series includes 4 online sessions looking at the core concepts of therapeutic foster care that are practically focused and interactive. \nTherapeutic care is a specific way of providing out of home care that is grounded in intentional healing using the essence and strength of authentic and responsive relationships. \nThe series is designed for Therapeutic Foster Carers and open to All Foster Carers. Behaviour can delight us\, frustrate us or challenge us but it is all representative of our experiences\, needs and stories. DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, 13 February 2027 \nTime: 10:00am -12:00pm \nLocation: Zoom online \nPresented by: NOFASD (National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders) \nAre you caring for a child or young person who is\, or you suspect is\, affected by FASD? \nThis session will provide carers with information and strategies for supporting children and young people living with FASD who display challenging behaviours\, including a focus on challenges that may arise during adolescence. \nThe National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (NOFASD) Australia is the oldest established FASD organisation in Australia. Founded and led by parents and carers for more than 20 years. NOFASD has been delivering workshops to community organisations for nearly 10 years. Feedback is consistently positive\, with over 95% of participants who completed this workshop stating that they would recommend it. \nThe session is designed for kinship\, foster and permanent carers.

DESCRIPTION:Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm (3 hours) \nDate: Saturday 20 March 2027 \nLocation: Online (Zoom) \nPresented by: Christina Keeble \nThis webinar will upskill and empower the carers of neurodivergent children (Autism & ADHD) in their care on how to build their interoceptive awareness which is a pre-requisite to developing self-regulation. Interoception is our 8th sense; it is being able to recognise what is happening in our bodies and is a pre-requisite to becoming self-regulated adults. \nThe session will: \n\nProvide carers with the latest\, trauma informed\, relevant research around neurodivergence (Autism & ADHD) and interoception.\nFacilitate a carer’s understanding of interoception and interoceptive awareness\, the role it plays in supporting the acquisition of self-regulation and why neurodivergent children need extra support in this area.\nSupport carers to understand why using the Zones of Regulation may not be working\, in the actual moments of dysregulation\nProvide practical\, take aways and strategies on how best to support the neurodivergent child or young person in their care\nBuild the carer’s confidence in supporting the neurodivergent child or young person in their care\n\nA PDF copy of the slides will be provided to all attendees. There will be time for discussion and Q&A at the end of the presentation. \nThis session is presented by Christina Keeble\, an Autistic ADHDer and proud parent to two neurodivergent children. Christina blends her lived experience with extensive professional expertise across education\, psychology\, and inclusion. She has a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)\, a Master’s in Special Education\, and a Graduate Diploma in Primary and Early Childhood Teaching. Christina has delivered impactful keynotes\, training\, and workshops to diverse audiences across Australia for almost 10 years. \nThe session is designed for kinship\, foster and permanent carers.

It will introduce carers to a visual model designed by presenter Christina Keeble that will support families to move beyond the implementation of initial low demand techniques. To support them to answer the question of\, “What is next?” and ensure their child or young person doesn’t ‘get stuck’ in an unhelpful space. \nThe session will: \n\nProvide carers with the latest\, trauma informed\, neuro-affirming\, relevant research around PDA & relational safety.\nBuild on their previous learnings around PDA & Neurodivergence (Autism & ADHD)\nSupport carers to understand the importance of being responsive to the PDAers sense of safety in their care and when and how to stretch or extend them outside of their comfort zone to avoid getting stuck in an unhelpful\, low demand space as well as how to support them to notice when it’s important to reduce demands and increase support again\nBuild the carer’s confidence in supporting the neurodivergent\, PDA child or young person in their care\n\nA PDF copy of the slides will be provided to all attendees.
