This webinar will upskill and empower the carers of neurodivergent children (Autism & ADHD) in their care on how to build their interoceptive awareness which is a pre-requisite to developing self-regulation. Interoception is our 8th sense; it is being able to recognise what is happening in our bodies and is a pre-requisite to becoming self-regulated adults.
The session will:
- Provide carers with the latest, trauma informed, relevant research around neurodivergence (Autism & ADHD) and interoception.
- Facilitate a carer’s understanding of interoception and interoceptive awareness, the role it plays in supporting the acquisition of self-regulation and why neurodivergent children need extra support in this area.
- Support carers to understand why using the Zones of Regulation may not be working, in the actual moments of dysregulation
- Provide practical, take aways and strategies on how best to support the neurodivergent child or young person in their care
- Build the carer’s confidence in supporting the neurodivergent child or young person in their care
A PDF copy of the slides will be provided to all attendees. There will be time for discussion and Q&A at the end of the presentation.
This session is presented by Christina Keeble, an Autistic ADHDer and proud parent to two neurodivergent children. Christina blends her lived experience with extensive professional expertise across education, psychology, and inclusion. She has a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), a Master’s in Special Education, and a Graduate Diploma in Primary and Early Childhood Teaching. Christina has delivered impactful keynotes, training, and workshops to diverse audiences across Australia for almost 10 years.
The session is designed for kinship, foster and permanent carers.
