Introduction to carer resilience

Date: Wednesday 05 August

Time: 10.00am – 11.00am

Location: Online (Zoom)

Facilitator: Maria Ruberto (Salutegenics)

This 1-hour webinar will:

  •  introduce carers to the PR6 Model of Resilience which identifies whether a carer’s resilience is currently static, in a forward direction, or in a backward direction.
  • explore the framework of resilience and the role it plays in a carer’s wellbeing, and the wellbeing of the children and young people in their care.
  • Explain the role of co-regulation for carers.
  • offer 3–5 evidence-informed strategies carers can trial to build their own capacity and sustainability. These strategies will focus on strengthening the carer’s nervous system regulation, sense of support, and reflective capacity—so carers are better resourced to respond to the needs of children in their care while protecting their own wellbeing.

Maria Ruberto is a registered psychologist with over 30 years of clinical practice and has worked alongside families and carers across diverse family structures and caregiving arrangements. Maria is the founder and director of her company, Salutegenics (www.salutegenics.com.au)

The session is designed for kinship, foster and permanent carers.
