Trauma Informed Series:

Each session stands alone so that carers can select the sessions that most interests them.
Foster carers can register for one or more of the four online sessions.
Session 1: Trauma informed practice in practice
Date: Tuesday 13 October
Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm (3 hours)
This session reviews core elements of trauma informed practice but then goes into what this really means for providing trauma informed care in the everyday.
By participating in this session, it is expected that carers will:
· Review their current understanding of trauma and its possible impacts on children and young people, grounded in an understanding of the brain and body connection
· Reinforce current supportive strategies and explore new and practical care strategies for best meeting the needs of children and young people
· Identify and find ways to address the challenges of caring for children and young people who have experienced trauma
Marina Dickson has significant experience in developmental trauma and working collaboratively with those who care for and support children and young people. She works hard to ensure her training programs are both practically focused and include a bit of fun. Marina holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education and Training, as well as an MBA. She has also completed a Certificate qualification in Bereavement Counselling.
The session is designed for Foster Carers.
