Understanding changes to the NDIS – 28 May

Time: 10.00 AM – 12.00 PM

Date: Thursday 28 May

Location: Online (Zoom)

Presented by: Mark Ryan (Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare) and Helen Johnson (Advocating for Children with Disability)

The NDIS has undergone several changes over the last year which can make applying for the scheme and maintaining existing NDIS supports challenging.

This practical session will provide a better understanding of the role of the NDIS and its purpose as well as how carers can access or apply for NDIS funding. The session provides resources and connections to resources to help support carers.

This workshop explains the changes in clear and intuitive language, particularly highlighting the strategies that will give children and young people in care the best outcomes. A range of resources will be shared.

These workshops have been presented to over 2,500 people since 2018. They have been co-delivered by Mark Ryan from the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (CFECFW), together with a member of the education team at Advocating for Children with a disability (ACD). The presenters Mark Ryan and Helen Johnson bring many years of lived experience as carers of young people with disability, and as advocates in the disability arena.

The session is designed for kinship, foster and permanent carers.
